Practice Makes Consistant!

Can you believe that tomorrow is August 1st. WOW- The summer is going by so fast. Today the corps rehearsed in Midland, TX after a great performance at "Rumble in the Desert" (Revo-82.05). We worked on the closer and opener today, making small tweeks and focusing on making the members comfortable with all changes. Tomorrow will have another good, strong, rehearsal day then it is off to the west coast. Two shows in Arizona then the focus show in Bakersfield, CA. This summer had been such a great season for us. Every member has grown and risen to the challanges of the production (and there are many). We are so proud of each member- can't wait to see them perform in Pasadena!!!

"Planet Houston"- Zod from Superman II

After a show July 27th in Van Buren, AR (score 80.70) the corps traveled back to Houston, Tx. Yesterday, day one, was a rehearsal/show day. We stayed at Sam Rayburn high school and have enjoyed the great facility and company of both fine band directors. Our first night the corps performed at a DCA show. It rained and rained (the story of Texas 2007) so the corps decided to do a stand still. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! The show fed all members- we had a blast! Today is a rehearsal day and we depart tonight (9pm) for Midland,Tx. Hard to believe that we only have two weeks of tour left!

Revoluiton Member Named World's Most Accurate Drummer!

Nearly 150 people tested their percussion skills on Saturday to see if they had what it takes to be the World’s Most Accurate Drummer at the DCI San Antonio Southwestern Championship. After warming up on practice pads for a few minutes, competitors played an unchanging two-bar rhythm for two minutes on the official Beatnik Rhythm Analyzer electronic drum pad. Once finished playing, each competitor was awarded a carefully calculated score which graded their accuracy. A perfect score was 800 points, but the highest scores of the day were in the low 700's as the Beatnik Rhythm Analyzer can detect accuracy to the 512th note.

Jonathan Leal, 17, a current member of the hometown Division III corps, Revolution, won the day's competition, and was named the World’s Most Accurate Drummer from San Antonio, Texas.

“It feels pretty sweet right now. My friends and I just went to try it out, and I ended up winning,” said Leal. “I wasn’t nervous at all when I was playing; it felt just like practice.”

Take me out.......

The full corps had a great time at the Frisco, TX baseball game. Good rehearsal and a nice dose of non drumcorps summer fun! They got tons of compliments on their pregame performance! Today is a rehearsal day before we pack up and head for Jackson, TN! Thank you to Mr. Honn for arranging last night's outing and for hosting the full corps for a meal at your home. We appreciate all you have done to make our stay in Frisco enjoyable and productive!

Next stop Div II/III!

Last nights Midland show was the last of our Division I shows for the 2007 season. While those shows give us great Texas exposure, it really does no good to be without comparable competition. We hope all our work over the last two week will pay off when we meet back up with the II/III tour in Jackson, TN on Thursday. Today we are in Frisco, TX and will be working on the show and watching a baseball game!

Service Update!

Well we hope we have the system figured out to better produce regular updates for the remainder of the season. Currently we are in Midland, TX and had a good show in Denton. No rain yesterday so we had our first full rehearsal in about a week! Scores really at this point for us do not matter while we are still on the Div I circuit. Our real test is Thursday when we rejoin the Div II/III shows and we will continue to do our best to clean and make progress on the program.

Kaplan, LA

Well, the break in the schedule has allowed for us to clean up drill and build endurance for the closer, but we are glad to back on the road and anxious for our next show! Just 3 1/2 weeks left and the 2007 season will be over! 16 more shows, 6 states, all for 1 moment in time that we will never forget! Remember to come to the Community Day performance on Friday back at the San Antonio rehearsal site, you will not believe how far we have come since the parent day performance.

SPECIAL RESPONSE!

Many of you have emailed asking for things we need or ways you can help, well here is your time to shine!

YOU CAN HELP! If the corps will be in a town near you sometime this season, or if you plan to attend a show, please help us by dropping off some of the following items: grape or strawberry jelly, cereal, powdered gatorade, bread, bagels, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, cookies...or anything else the members might enjoy! Or, if you don't have time to shop, consider donating a WalMart gift card, in any denomination.

We also have a need for field paint that you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot!

Thanks!

July 6, 2007
Legendary DCI announcer Brandt Crocker visited us today. He spoke of his many years in DCI and reminisced on the highlights of the activity. Afterwords he was gracious enough to do the official DCI announcement for our run through!! It was the most energy the corps has put out to date.
Coming off a free day in Chicago we had a fantastic time at the show in Dubuque, Iowa.

Parade time!

Kenosha, WI
These next few days will be a time the members moderately dislike but know it to be a necessary ritual during the summer! PARADE TIME! We will have more time to clean and hopefully see the score continue to climb. Our only goal at this point is continued improvement and to get the kids in better shape mentally and physically! We will have a light evening of washing clothes and Walmart run before leaving Kenosha and heading to Centerville, OH for two days!
