Home Again!

In Pasadena Revolution had an all out blast! We rehearsed, visited the Santa Monica Peir, had free time in HollyWood and competeted in the DCI World Championships. We also had seven entries in the I&E (Individual and Ensemble) contest. Each member represented Revolution with great class. Jonathan Leal placed 2nd(snare solo)and Marcus Wheat placed third (trumpet solo). The corps placed fourth over all with a score of 84.225

Tour is over and the corps has returned home to San Antonio. We had a great summer and are honored to be apart of this historical year going to Pasadena. Thanks to all the members, staff, volunteers, parents and supporters who made this season a great success!! We can't wait to see you soon and get started on the 2008 season.

The new website will be launched OCTOBER 1, 2007 releasing all the 2008 details. www.revolutionypa.org.

Ready To Perform in Tucson, AZ

We made the eleven hour bus ride to Tucson, AZ last night. The corps got here and got two hours of floor time. No matter hot long the drive, and how much sleep they get on the bus, we always like to give them some floor time. The school here is amazing. The site is at the foot of the Catalina mountain range offering up inspiring views. The corps will rehearse late today and we will take the field at 9:44pm tonight- the last corps in Division III. After tonight's performance we head to Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Practice Makes Consistant!

Can you believe that tomorrow is August 1st. WOW- The summer is going by so fast. Today the corps rehearsed in Midland, TX after a great performance at "Rumble in the Desert" (Revo-82.05). We worked on the closer and opener today, making small tweeks and focusing on making the members comfortable with all changes. Tomorrow will have another good, strong, rehearsal day then it is off to the west coast. Two shows in Arizona then the focus show in Bakersfield, CA. This summer had been such a great season for us. Every member has grown and risen to the challanges of the production (and there are many). We are so proud of each member- can't wait to see them perform in Pasadena!!!

"Planet Houston"- Zod from Superman II

After a show July 27th in Van Buren, AR (score 80.70) the corps traveled back to Houston, Tx. Yesterday, day one, was a rehearsal/show day. We stayed at Sam Rayburn high school and have enjoyed the great facility and company of both fine band directors. Our first night the corps performed at a DCA show. It rained and rained (the story of Texas 2007) so the corps decided to do a stand still. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! The show fed all members- we had a blast! Today is a rehearsal day and we depart tonight (9pm) for Midland,Tx. Hard to believe that we only have two weeks of tour left!

Another Sunshine Day!

With all the rain South Texas has been having, we thought it would be nice for those at home to know we are enjoying really nice sunny weather and getting things done! While we have a few more elements we will be adding before Bakersfield, CA - the corps is ready to re-eneter Div II/III competition today here in Jackson, TN!

Revoluiton Member Named World's Most Accurate Drummer!

Nearly 150 people tested their percussion skills on Saturday to see if they had what it takes to be the World’s Most Accurate Drummer at the DCI San Antonio Southwestern Championship. After warming up on practice pads for a few minutes, competitors played an unchanging two-bar rhythm for two minutes on the official Beatnik Rhythm Analyzer electronic drum pad. Once finished playing, each competitor was awarded a carefully calculated score which graded their accuracy. A perfect score was 800 points, but the highest scores of the day were in the low 700's as the Beatnik Rhythm Analyzer can detect accuracy to the 512th note.

Jonathan Leal, 17, a current member of the hometown Division III corps, Revolution, won the day's competition, and was named the World’s Most Accurate Drummer from San Antonio, Texas.

“It feels pretty sweet right now. My friends and I just went to try it out, and I ended up winning,” said Leal. “I wasn’t nervous at all when I was playing; it felt just like practice.”

Take me out.......

The full corps had a great time at the Frisco, TX baseball game. Good rehearsal and a nice dose of non drumcorps summer fun! They got tons of compliments on their pregame performance! Today is a rehearsal day before we pack up and head for Jackson, TN! Thank you to Mr. Honn for arranging last night's outing and for hosting the full corps for a meal at your home. We appreciate all you have done to make our stay in Frisco enjoyable and productive!

Next stop Div II/III!

Last nights Midland show was the last of our Division I shows for the 2007 season. While those shows give us great Texas exposure, it really does no good to be without comparable competition. We hope all our work over the last two week will pay off when we meet back up with the II/III tour in Jackson, TN on Thursday. Today we are in Frisco, TX and will be working on the show and watching a baseball game!

Service Update!

Well we hope we have the system figured out to better produce regular updates for the remainder of the season. Currently we are in Midland, TX and had a good show in Denton. No rain yesterday so we had our first full rehearsal in about a week! Scores really at this point for us do not matter while we are still on the Div I circuit. Our real test is Thursday when we rejoin the Div II/III shows and we will continue to do our best to clean and make progress on the program.

Kaplan, LA

Well, the break in the schedule has allowed for us to clean up drill and build endurance for the closer, but we are glad to back on the road and anxious for our next show! Just 3 1/2 weeks left and the 2007 season will be over! 16 more shows, 6 states, all for 1 moment in time that we will never forget! Remember to come to the Community Day performance on Friday back at the San Antonio rehearsal site, you will not believe how far we have come since the parent day performance.

SPECIAL RESPONSE!

Many of you have emailed asking for things we need or ways you can help, well here is your time to shine!

YOU CAN HELP! If the corps will be in a town near you sometime this season, or if you plan to attend a show, please help us by dropping off some of the following items: grape or strawberry jelly, cereal, powdered gatorade, bread, bagels, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, cookies...or anything else the members might enjoy! Or, if you don't have time to shop, consider donating a WalMart gift card, in any denomination.

We also have a need for field paint that you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot!

Thanks!

The voice of DCI visits Revo!!

July 6, 2007
Legendary DCI announcer Brandt Crocker visited us today. He spoke of his many years in DCI and reminisced on the highlights of the activity. Afterwords he was gracious enough to do the official DCI announcement for our run through!! It was the most energy the corps has put out to date.
Coming off a free day in Chicago we had a fantastic time at the show in Dubuque, Iowa.

Parade time!

Kenosha, WI
These next few days will be a time the members moderately dislike but know it to be a necessary ritual during the summer! PARADE TIME! We will have more time to clean and hopefully see the score continue to climb. Our only goal at this point is continued improvement and to get the kids in better shape mentally and physically! We will have a light evening of washing clothes and Walmart run before leaving Kenosha and heading to Centerville, OH for two days!

Here comes the sun!

Sparta, WI is our current location, and nice weather we will finally get to enjoy! Last night was the first contest of the season, and while it was well received by the stands, the judges (58.55) feel we need more polish. Something we know and, now with no rain, can really work on. Concentration will now be on cleaning and building stamina to complete the show. We have the facility to ourselves today and will share with the Blue Stars tomorrow before the show.

Show Day or Rain Day?

Well today is the first show, but if the forecast holds true it may get rained out. We are in Henderson, KY just south of Evansville, IN. We departed early from OK City due to rain, hoping to roll into better weather and it seems to follow us. Everyone is in good spirits and the rain forces us to focus on the music more, but we do need to clean the feet as well. Tomorrow we will be in La Crosse, WI and the weather will finally be better. Lets hope the Evansville Contest site has good drainage and also hope the rain clears out before step-off. SPECIAL THANKS! The Lindbergs have picked up our show flags from the factory and we will have them for rehearsal and for the show! Thanks a ton!

On the road!

Well the corps has arrived in Bethany, OK and will begin their short day at 9am. Showers (60%) are forecast for the day, so while they have left TX, the rains are following! No worries since the show was completed last week (Thursday) and all they are doing is adding musical color and building endurance for this very energetic show! Tomorrow the corps will be in Evansville, IN where once again rain may stop the show. Pray that the rain goes away today, we long for clear blue skies!

Roll Out Day!

Our time has come to bid adieu to our home at St. Gerards and to hit the road. Our tentative departure time is set for 9pm to 10pm! We will rehearse as usual and stop early to pack and load! We are very thankful for our host and facilities as that contributes greatly to our success. We are also very thankful to all the parents who have been absolutely wonderful these past two weeks! Truly awesome at how our parent supporters have really stepped up their game, and will continue to be so essential on tour!
Members are ready and it only gets better from here!

Almost time!

Hornline Full = Check!

Drum Line Full = Check!

Guard Full = Check!

Corps Rocking = CHECK!!!!!

One day more and this group is tour bound! First up is OK City and then on to Evansville, IN! While show silks will be ready to debut, Guard uniform will not debut till San Antonio or Houston. The corps is sounding great and will continue work on cleaning and refinement. Slight motificatins to the closer have been made since Family preview to emphisis the chant and now it makes for a really unique sound for the corps! Gonna be awesome come August!

Late posting.....sorry.

Sorry for the last two days, but thing have been pretty hectic as we get closer to getting this show on the road...... literally. The family day went very well and the show has progressed so much in the last few days! The rain still continues but it has not slowed our progress. Thank you to all the families that brought cookies and snack. This is the most I have ever seen! HUGE THANK YOU!

Rain, Rain, Rain!

Well the corps is still managing to get things done even with the rain delays. We know the city needs the rain but Drum corps does not! Today is the official start of summer but that comes a week AFTER the drum corps season started. Tour is coming soon and we all are looking forward to being on the road and at a show! This saturday is the preview dress performance for all our friends, family, and media! Change - the Brisket Plate sale will not be this weekend but rather on July 20th for the community performance sponsored by the YMCA!

Final prep!

These last few days before tour begins will be a whirlwind of final details. The truck driver flies in on Monday and the Semi Truck is due for final road inspection before the end of the week. Uniform Parts are all ordered and due any day now as well as most of the tour supplies. Hard to believe that in 2 months it will all be over and year 8 will be history! URGENT! We need cook staff help! Three of our volunteers had to head back home to take care of some things before tour so we need help! Even if it is for one meal, stop by and help if you have the time! ALL AGES WELCOME!

While we learn the last movement, work begins on cleaning the other three. Mail drop was yesterday and the members enjoyed receiving mail and packages. SEND MORE! Here are some numbers for you, 9 more days till our first show, 7 more days till we depart for tour, 4 more days till Family Preview, and only 2 more days till the official start of summer.

Weekend Recap!

What a weekend! Aside from dodging the rain, the corps did so much these past two days! Some hornline holes filled. (Welcome back Samuel!) Two thirds of the show done! Huge Sunday event at the Alamodome (Go Spurs Go!)! Thank you to the parents and members for making the spurs celebration a huge success. In addition to having the full battery perfrom in the South Plaza, 33 member, Staff and Parents manned concession stands for the event. Now we get back to work! Thank you to the all the parents that showed up this weekend to help and also for those who brought treats! YUMMY!

1 Week Progress

So our 1 week time has come and tour is now just 10 days away. We have gotten through the opener and the ballad and most of Movement 3. The closer will be the most challenging yet, both from a musical and physical (drill) standpoint. We do have a need for some brass positions (Baritone, Mello) since we lost a few due to injury/medical reasons, but we are confident we can fill those relatively soon! Please send out care packages and if you can afford the time off work volunteer for a leg of tour or for some immediate time at alldays to assist in the kitchen.

Bonding Time

One of the few great things about all days, besides learning the show, is the bonding that happens that turns the members from strangers that meet once a month, into family. It is very evident this group is special and even with the loss of a few, the collective whole still remains strong. COOK STAFF HELP NEEDED! The 4 great volunteers that have wonderfully taken care of us so far are in need of some male help or just more bodies in general! Even if it is only for a few hours or just help with one meal, it would be greatly appreciated!

And the beat goes on........

Day four of All Days has come and gone and more time was spent on learning the drill for movement 2! The days have been hot, everyone is sore, but the beat continues to haunt the campus as work on the 2007 show continues. Special thanks to Mr. Buell for providing some much needed welding work on some pit items and the pit cart! DONATION ALERT!!!!! We need cookies and sweets! Please send as much as you can!

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Libertango, WOW!

Well, the corps spent most of the day refining the 3rd movement, and it looks to be the highlight of the musical production. According to the parent volunteers, everyone really enjoyed the Sheppard's Pie Dinner and while tired and hot, everyone is doing fine in their blocks. Uniforms have been fitted and work will continue on the alterations. The evening was nice and cool and the opener is gonna be really sharp with some great impact moments!

Move in is here!

Move in was very eventful as the corps settles in to it's two week home at St. Gerards High School. Most of the members minus two Horn players (School) have settled in and have begun to work on the 2007 production. The Drumline had moved in prior (June 7th) due to their contract with the Spurs Event Organization! Currently we do have need for one Baritone late season opening. Call or come by rehearsal for more details!
