Here comes the sun!

Sparta, WI is our current location, and nice weather we will finally get to enjoy! Last night was the first contest of the season, and while it was well received by the stands, the judges (58.55) feel we need more polish. Something we know and, now with no rain, can really work on. Concentration will now be on cleaning and building stamina to complete the show. We have the facility to ourselves today and will share with the Blue Stars tomorrow before the show.

Show Day or Rain Day?

Well today is the first show, but if the forecast holds true it may get rained out. We are in Henderson, KY just south of Evansville, IN. We departed early from OK City due to rain, hoping to roll into better weather and it seems to follow us. Everyone is in good spirits and the rain forces us to focus on the music more, but we do need to clean the feet as well. Tomorrow we will be in La Crosse, WI and the weather will finally be better. Lets hope the Evansville Contest site has good drainage and also hope the rain clears out before step-off. SPECIAL THANKS! The Lindbergs have picked up our show flags from the factory and we will have them for rehearsal and for the show! Thanks a ton!

On the road!

Well the corps has arrived in Bethany, OK and will begin their short day at 9am. Showers (60%) are forecast for the day, so while they have left TX, the rains are following! No worries since the show was completed last week (Thursday) and all they are doing is adding musical color and building endurance for this very energetic show! Tomorrow the corps will be in Evansville, IN where once again rain may stop the show. Pray that the rain goes away today, we long for clear blue skies!

Roll Out Day!

Our time has come to bid adieu to our home at St. Gerards and to hit the road. Our tentative departure time is set for 9pm to 10pm! We will rehearse as usual and stop early to pack and load! We are very thankful for our host and facilities as that contributes greatly to our success. We are also very thankful to all the parents who have been absolutely wonderful these past two weeks! Truly awesome at how our parent supporters have really stepped up their game, and will continue to be so essential on tour!
Members are ready and it only gets better from here!

Rain, Rain, Rain!

Well the corps is still managing to get things done even with the rain delays. We know the city needs the rain but Drum corps does not! Today is the official start of summer but that comes a week AFTER the drum corps season started. Tour is coming soon and we all are looking forward to being on the road and at a show! This saturday is the preview dress performance for all our friends, family, and media! Change - the Brisket Plate sale will not be this weekend but rather on July 20th for the community performance sponsored by the YMCA!

Final prep!

These last few days before tour begins will be a whirlwind of final details. The truck driver flies in on Monday and the Semi Truck is due for final road inspection before the end of the week. Uniform Parts are all ordered and due any day now as well as most of the tour supplies. Hard to believe that in 2 months it will all be over and year 8 will be history! URGENT! We need cook staff help! Three of our volunteers had to head back home to take care of some things before tour so we need help! Even if it is for one meal, stop by and help if you have the time! ALL AGES WELCOME!

Huge Sunday event at the Alamodome (Go Spurs Go!)! Thank you to the parents and members for making the spurs celebration a huge success. In addition to having the full battery perfrom in the South Plaza, 33 member, Staff and Parents manned concession stands for the event. Now we get back to work! Thank you to the all the parents that showed up this weekend to help and also for those who brought treats! YUMMY!

1 Week Progress

So our 1 week time has come and tour is now just 10 days away. We have gotten through the opener and the ballad and most of Movement 3. The closer will be the most challenging yet, both from a musical and physical (drill) standpoint. We do have a need for some brass positions (Baritone, Mello) since we lost a few due to injury/medical reasons, but we are confident we can fill those relatively soon! Please send out care packages and if you can afford the time off work volunteer for a leg of tour or for some immediate time at alldays to assist in the kitchen.

Bonding Time

One of the few great things about all days, besides learning the show, is the bonding that happens that turns the members from strangers that meet once a month, into family. It is very evident this group is special and even with the loss of a few, the collective whole still remains strong. COOK STAFF HELP NEEDED! The 4 great volunteers that have wonderfully taken care of us so far are in need of some male help or just more bodies in general! Even if it is only for a few hours or just help with one meal, it would be greatly appreciated!

And the beat goes on........

Day four of All Days has come and gone and more time was spent on learning the drill for movement 2! The days have been hot, everyone is sore, but the beat continues to haunt the campus as work on the 2007 show continues. Special thanks to Mr. Buell for providing some much needed welding work on some pit items and the pit cart! DONATION ALERT!!!!! We need cookies and sweets! Please send as much as you can!

Libertango, WOW!

Well, the corps spent most of the day refining the 3rd movement, and it looks to be the highlight of the musical production. According to the parent volunteers, everyone really enjoyed the Sheppard's Pie Dinner and while tired and hot, everyone is doing fine in their blocks. Uniforms have been fitted and work will continue on the alterations. The evening was nice and cool and the opener is gonna be really sharp with some great impact moments!

Move in is here!

Move in was very eventful as the corps settles in to it's two week home at St. Gerards High School. Most of the members minus two Horn players (School) have settled in and have begun to work on the 2007 production. The Drumline had moved in prior (June 7th) due to their contract with the Spurs Event Organization! Currently we do have need for one Baritone late season opening. Call or come by rehearsal for more details!
